You have given yourself a very difficult job here both with this portrait and with the other, as the photos you are working from are back-lit. In this one you have very little to work from, in trying to model the three-dimensional form of the child’s face. Essentially the face here is in shadow from the direct lightsource, and being lit entirely by very diffuse bounce-light from the walls of the room.
